Professional Development Services

schools and outside agencies

I offer professional development services to schools and educational organizations on social and emotional health, best practices for dealing with social and emotional concerns in the classroom, and promoting a positive classroom climate. Professional development topics that I frequently present on include cultural competency, creating trauma-sensitive classrooms, and use of a restorative discipline approach in the classroom. Professional development needs will vary widely depending on a number of factors unique to your school, and as such must be tailored to meet your school or organization’s specific needs. Please note that due to René’s current role within a public school district in Massachusetts some professional development requests may present a conflict of interest, in which case she would not be able to provide these services to your district or institution. School Culture Consulting - Currently Not Offered

Note: Due to René’s current position with a public educational institution, this service is not being offered at this time.

School culture and climate are essential components to ensuring that your staff feels supported, and as such are key components to your students’ academic, social, emotional, and behavioral success. Too often we find ourselves utilizing bottom-up temporary solutions to student and staff dissatisfaction that ultimately become unsustainable in the long term. In school culture consulting sessions, we will look at your school’s big picture - where you are now, where you hope to be in the short term, and what your ultimate vision is for your school in the long-term - and we will implement sustainable solutions to the obstacles your school and staff may be facing. While all schools have different needs, a comprehensive school culture assessment typically involves one-on-one interviews with administration and staff members to assess your needs, classroom and school-wide observations, strategic planning sessions, and a series of implementation follow-ups and coaching sessions.
